1st trimester · Week 2
2 weeks pregnant
The fertile window
In a textbook 28-day cycle, ovulation often occurs near the end of this week. Fertilization, if it happens, is still days away from implantation. There is still no pregnancy tissue in the uterus.
How is your baby developing at 2 weeks?
An egg may be released and, if sperm is present, a zygote can form in the fallopian tube. Cell division may begin, but nothing has implanted. Size talk (a chia seed) remains a metaphor, not a measurement of a baby.
What changes in your body at 2 weeks?
Some people notice stretchy cervical mucus, a brief twinge, or a change in basal temperature around ovulation. Many feel nothing specific. Cycle length varies — ovulation is not always on day 14.
Tips for this week
If you are trying to conceive, this may be your fertile window. Continue folic acid, eat regularly, and avoid overheating (very hot tubs) if you can. Do not start or stop prescription medicines without advice. Home ovulation tests are optional, not required.
